Three different problems
| Your problem | Machine type | How it separates | PTMS supplies it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade powder or granules by size; remove oversize or fines | Gyratory sifter, vibrating screen | Particle size, over a mesh screen | No gyratory sifters. Our sister site powtechina.com lists a three-deck vibratory sieve (PTMS-1200-3S) for dry powders and granules. |
| Remove iron or magnetic contamination from powder or granules | Magnetic separator | Magnetic susceptibility, in a magnetic field | Yes. This is what PTMS builds. |
| Dry-clean coal by density | Dry coal separator (the "CZM" and "MZM" series are of this kind) | Air-based dry separation by density | No. We do not make or sell coal dry-separation machines. |
Gyratory sifter (gyrating powder separator)
A gyratory sifter moves screen decks in a gentle horizontal circular motion so that fine particles pass through the mesh and oversize particles are discharged. It sorts by size. It does not distinguish iron from other material of the same size, so it will not remove magnetic contamination.
CZM and MZM "intelligent super dry separator"
Manufacturers and distributors publish "CZM intelligent super dry separator" and "MZM intelligent dry separator for fine coal" pages. They describe dry coal-preparation machines. They are not magnetic separators and they are not products of PTMS. If you are buying one, please contact the manufacturer listed on that machine's own page; we cannot quote it.
Magnetic separator
A magnetic separator removes iron and weakly magnetic particles by magnetic force, not by size. In a powder line it usually sits next to the screening step: screen for size, then pass the sized powder through a magnetic separator to take out the iron. For dry free-flowing powder PTMS builds dry electromagnetic separators (current models PT3A160, PT20A600, PT25A600 and PT1000); for granules on a belt see conveyor drum and pulley separators; for pipelines and light iron loads see permanent magnetic separators.
How to decide quickly
- If the problem is "wrong size", you need a sifter or screen.
- If the problem is "iron or dark specks in a good-size powder", you need a magnetic separator.
- If the problem is "ash or stone in coal", you need a coal-preparation machine and not either of the above.
